My name is Philip Tucker, a member of the Society of Teachers of the Alexander Technique (MSTAT).

I offer lessons in the Alexander Technique in Oxford, near Abingdon Road, about one and a half miles due south from Oxford city centre.

The Alexander Technique is a method which enables you to identify problems and find solutions for:

·         Poor posture

·         Excessive muscular tension

·         Pain, especially back pain

·         Poor performance

·         Restricted breathing

We tend to respond to all the challenges thrown at us by life by over-tensing or collapsing.  We have natural mechanisms for balance, poise and posture.  These can be disturbed by harmful habits such as slouching in front of a computer for hours on end, resulting in pain in the back, neck, shoulders or legs, excessive tension, sore throats, fatigue or simply a poor sense of well-being.

                                           Something, somewhere went terribly wrong

                                      Restoring your poise

You cannot restore these natural mechanisms for balance and poise simply by trying harder.  Instead the Alexander Technique can help you un-learn the habits of a lifetime and commence the process of restoring your natural poise.

Although it is not a therapy the  Alexander Technique can also be beneficial for conditions like anxiety, high blood pressure, some migraines, asthma, arthritis, back/neck/shoulder aches or problems, some voice disorders, repetitive strain injury and joint problems. Although actors, dancers and musicians use it to enhance performance, many people use it simply to gain relief from pain.

It can be a benefit for anyone and can enable you to:

·         Move and breathe more freely

·         Restore your poise and vitality and give you a sense of lightness

·         Improve your posture

·         Relieve pain

In an Alexander Technique lesson you will be an active participant and will discover through clear verbal guidance and gentle hands-on contact how your body can function more naturally and freely.

Lessons are one-to-one and normally last 45 minutes, although the introductory first lesson may last a little longer.  A lesson costs £35.00.
